Prince William's Homewards projects unveils milestone report as he arrives in Wales
Prince William is visiting Newport in Wales today to hear about the Homewards Newport local Coalition's approach to preventing women's homelessness in the city.

Prince William's Homewards project has published a milestone report addressing women's homelessness in Newport.
The Welsh city is one of the initiative's six flagship locations that each focus on key areas to demonstrate it is possible to end homelessness.
The Homewards Newport Coalition identified that women with multiple disadvantages are a priority cohort in Wales and advised that the first step in delivering change for this group would be to undertake a Newport Women’s Homelessness Joint Strategic Needs Assessment [JSNA].
The report has looked at the current and future health and care needs of local women and set out opportunities and recommendations for preventing women from experiencing homelessness in Newport.
It will be a key tool for supporting action planning in shaping effective local policies and the best forms of intervention to improve the lives of women in Newport.

Commitments unveiled include NHS Wales funding an Early Intervention Worker, women-only properties and new training to ensure professionals are equipped to better support individuals who have experienced trauma.
It comes as Prince William is visiting Newport today to speak to local organisations who have pledged their support.
The Prince will be joined by Homewards Advocate, Sabrina Cohen-Hatton, who herself experienced homelessness as a teenager in the city.
Together they are visiting The Nelson Trust, which plays a role in delivering trauma-informed support for women in Newport.
Whilst visiting the trust, William will meet with local women who are part of a 'Women of Newport' photography series. The project has been created to raise awareness and change perceptions around women's homelessness and demonstrate that recovery from homelessness is possible.

Prince William is also set to meet businesses, charities and other local organisations to hear about commitments they are making to support Homewards Newport's efforts to prevent and end women's homelessness.
Women's homelessness, and specifically women who face multiple disadvantages such as trauma, poverty and domestic abuse, have been identified as a key priority in Newport with reports of women’s homelessness rising in the city.
By focusing support specifically on women's homelessness in Newport, Homewards aims to not only support these women but also share learnings with the programme’s other five flagship locations and beyond.
A documentary titled 'Prince William: We Can End Homelessness' focusing on William's ambitious efforts to combat the crisis recently aired on ITV.
His commitment to shining a light on the cause can be traced back to his early childhood. From a young age, his mother, the late Princess Diana exposed her two sons to discreet visits to homeless shelters, particularly The Passage in London.
