King Charles was all smiles tonight as he attended a lavish reception with global business chiefs and Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The King is at St Paul’s Cathedral in London for the reception, where business leaders will showcase the UK as a destination for investment following the Government’s International Investment Summit, which ended today.

The reception, which is being hosted by the Government, will bring together high-profile investors, business representatives and leaders.

Throughout the event, the King will meet with guests from industries including technology, energy and the performing arts. These sectors are all believed to be good investment opportunities.

Queen Camilla is not at the event with the King.

The reception comes just days before His Majesty is set to jet off to Australia on Friday with Queen Camilla for their royal tour.

The King, who is pausing his cancer treatment for the trip, will also head to Samoa for a series of engagements.

The trip to Australia, which aides have been planning for the best of a year, will be his first visit to one of the Commonwealth realms, where he is head of state since he came to the throne.

A ruling British monarch has not visited Australia since the late Queen Elizabeth’s last trip in October 2011.

Queen Camilla will accompany the King on his trip, despite the revelation from a close friend that she had her worries about the royal tour as Charles continues his cancer recovery.

This is because she wants the King to “take it easy” and rest.

A friend of the couple told The Daily Beast: “She didn’t particularly want him to go to Australia, and she will be encouraging him to take it easy once he gets back - never an easy task.”
