Keir Starmer's latest resignation odds as calls for PM to quit explode
Keir Starmer resignation odds as pressure mounts on the Prime Minister following Labour's losses in last week's local elections (contains affiliate links)

Keir Starmer's time as Labour leader and Prime Minister is under fire after Labour's embarassing losses in the local elections last week. After haemorrhaging 1,496 council seats across the district and county council elections last week, tensions are high among the Prime Minister's own party.
The pressure after Reform's surge in the elections - which saw Nigel Farage's team win 1,453 council seats across the nation as well as a majority in 12 district councils and two county councils - has sparked members from Starmer's own party calling for him to leave Number 10.

At first there were demands for him to resign from Catherine West and while the MP has since withdrawn her threat of a leadership challenge, the number of Labour MPs calling for his resignation has now grown to 49. This amounts to more than 10% of the 411 seats the party won in the 2024 General Election.
Add this along with the 20 additional MPs who have been critical of their leader, it is little wonder as to the bookies backing him to leave this year at odds-on prices too.
Well-known bookies including William Hill, Betfred and Ladbrokes have all priced the Prime Minister to leave this year at 1/4 odds, a sign of how confident the traders are that there will be a new Prime Minister and Labour leader before 2027.
Both those bookies are also pricing 11/4 odds on the Prime Minister to leave Downing Street on October-December 2026 and 2027 or later too.
