Nine MPs gobbled up £5,790 in free Wimbledon tickets - including in the Royal Box.

The freebie revelations continue to pile up for the Labour Government, with Sir Keir Starmer and his top team hitting the headlines for snaffling thousands of pounds in free holidays, clothes, tickets and hospitality.

The one must have ticket for every tennis fan each year is for Wimbledon - with thousands annually entering a public ballot hoping that they’ll be amongst the relative few selected to attend. Around only one in ten are selected.

However there are a number of MPs and cabinet ministers who leapfrogged diehard tennis fans to snatch free tickets to the event.

These include two Conservative MPs - Helen Grant, who represents Maidstone and Malling, and Laura Trott, who represents Sevenoaks, and one Liberal Democrat MP, Layla Moran, who represents Oxford West and Abingdon.

The Sunderland Count Is The First To Declare

However, there were six Labour MPs who grasped the opportunity to head to one of Britain's most esteemed sporting competitions including the Labour Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson who declared that she sat in the Royal Box Saturday, July which cost the donor - the Lawn Tennis Association - £1,060.

As well as heading to Wimbledon the Houghton and Sunderland South MP also leapt at the chance to take her child to see Taylor Swift.

Labour's Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins told Express.co.uk: "I am the Chair of the APPG for Tennis, as well as a Club Tennis player.

"I work closely with the LTA in promoting the sport and holding the governing body to account and attend Wimbledon and other Tennis events in my capacity as Chair."

Meanwhile, Deputy PM Angela Rayner is facing potential hot water over a donation that saw her use of a £1.8 million apartment to celebrate New Year in New York.

The Cabinet Minister has faced mounting pressure over her use of the plush US residence thanks to Labour peer and donor Lord Waheed Alli.

Ms Rayner, who denies breaking Commons rules over declaring a stay, said she understood that people were "frustrated" about the emerging donations and gifts stories swirling around top Labour figures, but insisted donations, gifts, and hospitality had been "a feature of our politics for a very long time".
