The Conservative MP for Fareham has insisted that there was “confident that nothing untoward happened” in the handling of the offence and said she regrets breaking the speed limit.
She denied trying to “evade” punishment by asking civil servants to help arrange a private one-to-one driving awareness course. The row was first reported by The Sunday Times and a spokesman for Ms Braverman later said she regretted speeding and had accepted the points and paid the fine for the offence.
Some Tory MPs have called for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to order an investigation into Ms Braverman and urged for her to be sacked if found in breach of the ministerial rules. Senior Tory MPs told The Independent that Ms Braverman had shown “constant poor judgement” and “a mistake too far”.

Mr Sunak has said Ms Braverman will face no “further investigation” as her actions “do not amount to a breach of the ministerial code”.
He added: “A better course of action could have been taken to avoid giving rise to the perception of impropriety.”
