Daisy the King Charles spaniel was scalded with boiling water and had nine ribs and her pelvis fractured by Mark Sharp, 34.
The dog’s torment was only exposed when Daisy was taken to the vets with severe burns over her back and head.
As Sharp begins a 16-week jail sentence, RSPCA Inspector Claire Fisher explained how his ex-partner had not realised he was abusing Daisy.

She thought the pet’s injuries had been caused by accidents.
Inspector Fisher said: “Her owner, who is no longer with Sharp, was absolutely horrified when she learnt of the full extent of the horrors inflicted on her beloved dog.
“This prolonged period of cruelty appalled me, especially when I learned of the extent of poor Daisy’s injuries: broken pelvic bones, broken ribs and third degree burns, all sustained over a period of four months.

"People can rest assured that Daisy remains in the most loving home and has always had every need, and more, met by her owner.”
