SOMETHING truly unexpected lurking in the snow gave this cameraman the shock of a lifetime.
Bird bursts out of snow
A hiker strolling in the peaceful and deserted winter wonderland of Yemelyanovsky, an isolated part of Siberia in Russian, was met by an unexpected sight.
Just as the unknown hiker behind the camera walks deeper into the snowy landscape, something bursts out of the snow in front of him.
The reason behind the unexpected incident? A capercaillie, also known as a wood grouse, had emerged from beneath the snow and ice.

Something bursts out of the snow just ahead of the walker
The bird had rise out of its burrow deep under the snow after presumably being disturbed by the hiker.
The video shows the bird surprising the filmmaker before flying away.
The hiker later wrote online: "In winter, when it is very cold, capercaillies sleep mainly under the snow, burrowing themselves into it completely.
"They do this because it is warmer to sleep under the snow, and night predators cannot easily find the birds there."
