Abandoned bird of prey takes flight for warmer weather
A RARE bird of prey was given its freedom today – and headed south for the sun.
The Hobby was found 2 months ago
The hobby chick was found nearly two months ago on a street in Coventry and passers-by took it to a wildlife sanctuary where it was nursed back to health.
The Hobby as a chick
It seemed to know exactly what to do, flying straight up then turning south
It had so few feathers it was thought to be a kestrel but after fattening up it became clear it was a hobby.
Staff at the sanctuary initially thought the hobby was a kestrel
Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary’s Geoff Grewcock, who saw the bird take flight, said: “It seemed to know exactly what to do, flying straight up then turning south.”
