Queen Letizia turns heads in £70 Zara navy dress with King Felipe VI in Madrid
QUEEN LETIZIA OF SPAIN, 47, showed off her savvy fashion sense by wearing an off-the-shoulder navy design yesterday. She was spotted with her husband King Felipe VI, 52, in Madrid.
Queen Letizia of Spain looked chic in a navy and white checked dress yesterday. She stepped out with King Felipe VI to attend a Cooperator's Day event at the Viana Palace. The royal dressed up the look with a pair of navy high heel shoes.
Queen Letizia put safety first as she was spotted social distancing at the event in Madrid.
The Spanish monarch also covered up by wearing a light blue single-use face mask.
She wore a stylish navy and white dress that had short sleeves and a chic off-the-shoulder design.
The dress had a fitted bodice and a loosely pleated midi skirt with pockets on either side.
Queen Letizia showed off her slim frame with a thin navy belt that had a silver buckle.
King Felipe VI coordinated with his wife by wearing a navy suit jacket and light blue shirt.
While she is sure to have her pick of designer brands, the look was an affordable piece from Zara.
The tweed gown was on sale for just £69.99, although it has now sold out.
This is not the first time Letizia has worn the design, first wearing it in July 2019.
She wore her mocha hair down and styled into a straight blow-dry.
The Spanish Queen chose a subtle make-up look with nude eyeshadow and lashings of mascara.
She was spotted holding onto a small leather envelope clutch bag.
Letizia completed the ensemble with a pair of pointed-toe navy pumps which had a cut-out back.
The royal has been showing off her chic but affordable fashion sense on a number of outings in the last few weeks.
She was recently spotted with her family during a trip to Petra, Palma de Mallorca.
The mother-of-two wore a bold red midi dress which had an asymmetric hemline.
The sleeveless number showed off her toned arms and she tied it with an oversized brown belt.
The dress was the 'Textured Midi Dress With Belt' from Spanish designer Adolfo Dominguez.
Originally on sale for €274, or around £246, it is currently reduced to a more affordable €149, or £133.
Career
Letizia was already famous in her native Spain thanks to a career as a TV presenter and journalist.
She even won an award for best Spanish journalist under 30 in 2002, just before she met King Felipe.
Wedding
Felipe and Letizia Ortiz, as she was called then, wed in 2004.
She wore a long-sleeved wedding dress with a 15 foot train by Manuel Pertegaz.
As is custom with royal weddings, Letizia wore a tiara. Her diamond and platinum Prussian tiara is a German imperial heirloom created in 1913 by Koch for Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia’s wedding to Prince Ernst August.
Family
Letizia is the eldest of three daughters, with her middle sister tragically taking her own life in 2007.
Now, Letizia has two daughters, Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia of Spain. She is a hands on mum, taking the children to school and enjoying countless family holidays with them.
Divorce
Letizia has been married before, wedding Alfonso Guerrero, a teacher, in 1998.
However she did not require an annulment before her roman-catholic marriage to then Prince Felipe in 2004 as her marriage to Guerrero was a civil ceremony.
Plastic surgery
In 2008, Letizia underwent surgery on her nose to correct a respiratory problem, the Spanish palace confirmed at the time.
