Sony confirm Playstation 4 will launch in UK in 2013, set to go head to head with Xbox One
SONY have confirmed the Playstation 4 (PS4) will launch in the UK in 2013, meaning it will go head-to-head for sales with the Microsoft Xbox One.
The PS4 was announced in New York in February and features a strong integration with social networking sites which allows it to share clips of gamers' best moments.
A newspaper advert published today said the PS4 will be released in the UK this year, the same timeframe Microsoft have given for the Xbox One.
The promo, which appears in the Metro, said: "Now is the time. The world’s greatest players are going to entertain, create and amaze on the ultimate stage.
"This year a new generation will push the boundaries of play and share in moments of wonder. This year players will become legends."
Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One on Tuesday, with the successor to the Xbox 360 being labelled an 'all in one entertainment system'.
It features voice commands and can switch between watching live TV, browsing the internet and playing games online in an instant.
Both consoles will be vying for sales in the Christmas run up, and will feel they have a strong chance to become the best seller of this generation.
Their previous consoles, the Xbox 360 and PS3, were dwarfed in sales by the popular Nintendo Wii which was adopted by the casual gamer.
But in the latest generation the Big N are finding it hard to shift units of the Wii U which has struggled since it launched last November.
Both Sony and Microsoft will reveal more on the PS4 and Xbox One at the gaming exhibition E3 in Los Angeles next month.
