Hyperoptic Black Friday deals 2024: Will it beat BT, Sky and Virgin Media?

Hyperoptic is on a mission to challenge the big three providers in the UK - BT, Virgin Media and Sky - and offer fast full-fibre broadband with less fuss. The company prides itself on offering fibre to the building, looking to give its customers great speeds.

The company has seen some great deals on broadband in the past and in 2023 offered some compelling Black Friday discounts for new customers. So could it be time for you to make the switch?

Who is Hyperoptic and is the service good?

Hyperoptic was founded in 2011 and is on a mission to provide faster broadband to UK homes. The company is committed to full fibre, rather than fibre-to-the-cabinet that some other broadband providers offer. The aim is to get 1Gb hyperfast broadband to customers while keeping prices under control.

There are also over 30,000 reviews on Trustpilot and many of these are five-star reviews, so customers are really enjoying the Hyperoptic experience.

The catch with Hyperoptic is that it doesn't have the same availability as the likes of BT. There are 64 towns and cities that are connected - according to Hyperoptic - but there's postcode checker on their website to see if you're able to access the service.

What Black Friday deals are expected in 2024?

It's difficult to pin down exactly what Hyperoptic will offer in the Black Friday sales, but the company has history of offering great deals, as well as participating in Black Friday. It's not the only company that offers Black Friday broadband deals, as we expect Virgin Media, Sky and BT to all offer discounts too.

In 2023, Hyperoptic offered 3 months free broadband on its top three speeds (150Mb, 500Mb and 1Gb) on new 24-month contracts.

Through 2024, we've seen offers for a £12 a month broadband deal or 12-months free on the 1Gb package when you sign-up for 24 months. These are usually new customer incentives, sometimes removing the £19 activation fee too.

When will Hyperoptic Black Friday deals start?

Black Friday falls on 29 November in 2024, but the Black Friday sales span a longer period of time. In 2023, Hyperoptic announced its deals on 17 November, but they ran from 9-27 November.

If Hyperoptic follows the same pattern in 2024, then we could expect the deals to go live on 14 November and run until 2 December (Cyber Monday). Of course there's no guarantee here and we'll be keeping an eye on Hyperoptic's deals to make sure you know when to strike.

How fast is Hyperoptic broadband?

Hyperoptic uses a fibre optic cables to deliver its broadband which allows for faster movement of data compared to copper wiring. Fibre is really reliable because it's not subject to electromagnetic interference and even though much of the network in the UK uses fibre optic cables for data, Hyperoptic's proposition relies on bringing that fibre optic cable right to your house.

Hyperoptic offers broadband speeds up to 1Gb - or 1Gbps - but offers 50Mb, 150Mb and 500Mb speeds too, which are all cheaper than the fastest 1Gb package.

Hyperoptic isn't the only company offering full fibre - you can also get it from BT (which is becoming EE), Virgin Media, Sky and Community Fibre, but it's worth bearing in mind that if fibre isn't laid to your home, you can't get full fibre - it needs to be installed in the street for you to get access.
