Amazon laptop deal proves you don't have to pay a fortune, as Dell model drops in price

Dell's highly-rated Inspiron 15 3520 Laptop is currently slashed to under £400 in a limited-time deal on Amazon.

Tech giant Dell has been around the block a few times - it's been making hugely popular laptop and desktop computers for decades now, and built up a great reputation for solid and reliable hardware in that time. Equally, though, it's sometimes been seen as quite a pricey provider, and outside some people's budgets.

There's always a deal to prove something like that wrong, though, and Amazon has obliged this week with a pretty impressive £100 price cut on a really solid Dell laptop. Right now, the Dell Inspiron 15 3520 is down to just £399.99 instead of £499, representing a fairly chunky saving.

For that price, you'll get a really nice and compact 15.5-inch laptop, with a full-HD 1080p display that can run at 120Hz for the smoothest of responses and support for high frame rates. It's all powered by a sleek Intel Core i5-1235U processor, which should be ideal for multitasking, and you get 16GB of RAM to make switching tasks really quick. A 512GB SSD rounds things out with a load of fast storage.

To get a sense of how people actually find the laptop to use, though, you only have to head to the user reviews section on Amazon (where 83 reviewers have awarded it 4.3 stars) or Dell's own site, which has a broader scope of 17,531 reviews, also giving it 4.3 stars. On Dell's site, there are loads of folks trading impressed verdicts - one happy customer said: "Great laptop, suits my needs. Easy to use and has all the features I want."

Another user wrote: "Incredible. Just what I expected for its price. Works fine at office jobs and I can even use it to play some games." This isn't a gaming laptop so won't set any crazy benchmarks, but it will indeed handle some light gaming well.

Finally, a third reviewer said: "We only ordered another Dell laptop to replace the old Dell. [...] Easy to move all the data to the new machine. This runs flawlessly for all she does. I hope it lasts just as long." That underlines how loyal some Dell customers are.

Some others have had more mixed observations to share, of course - one person complained: "The mouse pad on the computer is too sensitive and is constantly sending me places where I do not want to go." Another person noted: "Keyboard is not backlit and keys are too flat." No backlight might be a small issue at times, although a flat keyboard could just be down to personal taste.

If you need a new laptop, alternative options might get quite a lot more expensive, too. Take Apple's MacBook Air with the M2 chip - it starts at £999, which is nearly three times as much. Something a bit more powerful from Dell, like the XPS 13, starts from £1,198.99

So, for sheer value, it's hard to look past what the Dell Inspiron 15 3520 offers up - you get a fantastic, capable laptop, for less than half of what others might pay for features that don't actually upgrade things by much. Make sure to grab this discount on Amazon while it still lasts.
