Streets where U are better off
HOMES in streets beginning with the letter U are worth £25,000 more than the average property.
But street names starting with a Z have the lowest value homes, a study for property search website Zoopla has shown.
It found homes in U streets generally cost more than houses in roads starting with any other letter of the alphabet and are typically worth £251,307.
Homes on Z streets are generally worth £180,046, a fifth less than average.
The most expensive street beginning with a U is Upper Phillimore Gardens in Kensington, London, where a house is worth around £5.6million.
Streets beginning with T and O have the second and third highest priced homes.
In the analysis of 750,000 UK roads, those starting with J have the second lowest prices and the letter A the third lowest.
Zoopla’s Lawrence Hall said: “There may be more to a street name than meets the eye. With a £70,000 difference between roads starting with the letters U and Z, it is advisable to select your street wisely.”
