I removed years of shower head limescale in 5 minutes with 1 Home Bargains spray
I was thoroughly impressed when cleaning my shower head.
Living in a hard water area can be challenging, with shower heads coating in stubborn limescale in no time. Over time, the nozzles clog, water pressure drops, and even a clean bathroom can start to look tired because of limescale. Cleaning a shower head isn’t always easy, especially when limescale has been building up for months.
I’ve tried plenty of natural cleaning methods over the years, including soaking the shower head in white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, but they never quite gave me the results I wanted. This time, I decided to try something different, and it made a huge difference.
The product that finally worked for me was Viakal Fresh Limescale Remover Spray, which I picked up from Home Bargains for £2.75 for a 500ml bottle.
It’s designed to remove limescale, soap scum and water marks, while also helping to prevent future build-up.
It also has an anti-droplet technology, which helps to reduce the formation of water droplets on surfaces after cleaning.
To use it, I sprayed the shower head generously, making sure to cover all the areas with visible limescale, and left it to work for several minutes before gently scrubbing with an old toothbrush.
The limescale came away much more easily than it ever had with vinegar, and the shower head looked noticeably cleaner afterwards.
The water flow had also improved because the blocked nozzles appeared to have cleared.
While it didn’t remove 100% of the limescale, it was noticeably less visible, and I was thoroughly impressed.
I do prefer to use natural cleaning methods where possible, but in this case, Viakal gave far better results than anything else I’d tried.
It tackled thick, stubborn limescale with minimal effort, which saved me a lot of time on scrubbing.
That said, it is quite a strong cleaning product, so it’s important to use it safely. I made sure to open a window and turn on the extractor fan to keep the room well ventilated.
Viakal isn’t the cheapest cleaning product, but you only need a little at a time, so a bottle has lasted me a long while.
I also use it on my sink and bath taps, and they are noticeably cleaner and shinier.
