Ovens are among those appliances that can become incredibly filthy if left unchecked, with food splatters and stains accumulating over time. Not only does this leave the appliance looking unsightly, but failing to tackle stubborn grime can genuinely affect the oven's performance.

Fortunately, there's a remarkably straightforward technique you can employ to cut through any persistent food stains. Chantel Mila, better known as Mama Mila on TikTok, recently revealed some of her top household hacks that she believes everybody ought to know. When it comes to tackling dirty ovens, there's no need for harsh commercial cleaning products; all you require is a generous helping of baking soda and washing-up liquid.

Chantel explained that you'll need to combine one cup of baking soda and half a cup teaspoon of washing-up liquid together with a splash of water to create a smooth paste.

Next, spread a layer across your grimy oven door or interior, working it in with a sponge. Allow the paste to work its magic, reports The Mirror.

After giving it sufficient time to rest, use a glass or window scraper to remove the paste along with the unsightly food marks. The results should leave your oven gleaming.

Should you have particularly stubborn food stains and marks, you can leave the paste coating the oven overnight. Come morning, take a cloth and wipe down the oven, paying close attention to any persistent spots where grime may remain.

Baking soda is an excellent solution for tackling grease thanks to its alkaline properties. These work to counteract the acid found in grease, making it considerably easier to lift away during cleaning.

As baking soda is a mildly abrasive substance, it also assists in removing stubborn grease or food particles without causing any surface damage.

Combining it with washing-up liquid makes the entire cleaning process far more effective. Acting as an emulsifier, washing-up liquid binds with grease and oil stains, enabling them to be rinsed away with water.

Dish soaps contain surfactants that are both hydrophilic - attracts water - and hydrophobic - repels water and binds to oil. These surfactants attach to the grease, allowing the oil and water to mix and form a stable mixture called an emulsion, which can then be washed away.
