Amazon shoppers swap Dyson and Shark for £70 alternative with 'serious power'

Many may not be aware, but Amazon offers a broad selection of vacuum cleaners that boast high customer ratings and affordable prices. Some of these options might be from brands less familiar to shoppers, but owners attest they match leading models from Dyson and Shark in terms of performance.

One model that's currently flying off the shelves and also comes with a hefty discount is the VACTechPro V15 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, reduced to £69.99 from £129.99. This represents a £60 or 46% saving, but the deal has entered its final hours and will expire at 11.59pm on Thursday, December 22.

The device is designed to be lightweight and compact, boasting a high-performance motor with powerful suction, a 45-minute runtime and a detachable battery that can be charged separately, eliminating the need to move the entire vacuum to a charging port. The brush head is suitable for both hard floors and carpets and is engineered to prevent scratches during use.

It also boasts a green light to illuminate hidden dust in crevices and corners, as well as a V-shaped roller brush to reduce tangled hair. The VACTechPro V15 comes equipped with a crevice nozzle and a combi nozzle, enabling quick conversion into a portable handheld vacuum for cleaning sofas, cars, stairs and upholstered furniture.

Weighing only 2.4kg, the model can be 'easily lifted with one hand by elderly people', according to the brand. It comes as Shark offers up to 40% off its own vacuums in a rival winter sale, with the Pet Plus Cordless Stick Vacuum – featuring the brand's signature Anti Hair Wrap Technology – now £169.99 (was £249.99).

Elsewhere, there's £100 off the Dyson V8 Advanced vacuum at £229.99 (was £329.99). This model also offers hair de-tangling and is said to deliver 'powerful Dyson suction', with buyers receiving three attachments at no extra cost.

However, Amazon's VACTechPro V15 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner remains a customer favourite, with more than 4,000 units sold in the past month, reports the Daily Record. One satisfied customer praised the design, saying: "They have solved everything that annoyed me about the hyper fussy Shark equivalent, everything easily comes apart to clean, and it all connects so well - it really makes me happy when I use it, and I never thought I'd say that about vacuuming."

Another user expressed their amazement at the device's ability to pick up 'stubborn' pet hair embedded in the carpet, adding: "I'd already used my Henry vacuum the day before, but this little powerhouse still pulled up an incredible amount of hair and dust. I managed a full house clean without it shutting off once. It's quick, easy to use, super lightweight, and packs serious suction power."

One customer was initially sceptical about the small device but was completely won over, saying: "I was sceptical about such a small device, but it's completely won me over. Highly recommend. My anxiety is squashed, and I'm going to purchase one for my Mum for Xmas and another for my daughter."

However, the product received mixed reviews from some users, as one three-star review says: "This cordless vacuum has great suction and does an excellent job picking up dust and debris, which honestly feels like heaven when it's working properly, but the experience is let down by how often things get stuck in the brush or tube, causing interruptions during cleaning. So while it performs very well at times, the clogging issue keeps it from being a smooth or hassle-free experience."

Another user compared it favourably to Dyson models, saying: "This vacuum looks and feels just like a Dyson and doesn't disappoint in any way. Comes with all the attachments you need for doing your house, stairs or even the car.

"Spare filters are included, and a bracket to mount them to a wall. The performance is good, with two modes for low- and high-vacuum suction. The battery can go down quickly on high, but most of the time, you can clean well enough with the low setting. Overall, very good for the price."

Despite this, another happy VACTechPro V15 buyer said: "A very good cordless vacuum cleaner. Had one before, but the battery wasn't powerful enough. The battery of this one lasts longer, it's more powerful, and the green light lets you spot dust and hair even during daylight. Picks up everything in one go, and it's really easy to manoeuvre. The attachments let you take dust from all kinds of corners and from the skirting boards. Very compact, easy to assemble. Comes with a warranty as well."
