Dunelm shoppers rush to buy 'thick and luxurious' rug in end-of-year sale

If you're looking to refresh your space for 2026, Dunelm has launched its end-of-year sale, offering reductions across its homeware and furniture range. We think it's a great time to invest in some accessories, like rugs, to add warmth to your space as well as a fresh colour.
The high-street retailer has discounts on a range of rugs to suit every taste and budget, but one particular design that comes in many shades and sizes has caught our attention – and it has 20% off. The Jewel rug has a thick, shaggy design that's perfect for winter, with size and colour options to fit any space, according to Birmingham Live.
It's woven with 30% cotton and is perfect for people who prefer thick pile carpets as opposed to flatwoven ones. The retailer also claims the rug can absorb noise, making it ideal for flats or houses with a lot of echo.
Availability varies across shades and sizes, but generally the retailer has reduced most colourways by 20% across sizes. Prices range from £24 to £429, and depending on which shade you choose, you could get the largest size for as low as £343.20.
There are thirteen colourways to choose from, from subtle nudes and greys to vibrant shades like green, red and purple. What's also great about the Jewel rug is that comes in seven different sizes, starting from 60cm x 110cm up to the largest size of 240cm x 340cm. This makes it possible to mix and match across rooms, for a more uniform look.
The Jewel rug is a fan favourite among Dunelm customers, with a rating of 4.6 out of five coming from 2,000 reviews. One happy shopper said: "Beautiful rich colour and soft, shaggy texture. Perfect size for the room."
Another wrote: "Absolutely beautiful colour and softness make my room cosy and comfortable, just love it."
Many shoppers commented on the rug's thickness, with one saying: "Excellent rug, very thick, chunky almost, soft feeling. Love how it shimmers from different angles and positions, really makes my sitting room feel luxurious and inviting."

Another shopper wrote: "We went into the store to look at floor rugs and saw this large Jewel Shaggy Rug in-store at Dunhelm, Derby, laid out on the floor, and it looked luxurious and well, just invitingly warm. We purchased the burnt orange colour, but there were other rich colours too.
"They just look great, and the shaggy pile feel nice and thick. The price was very reasonable too for the large size, so really good value for money."
Another fan of the same shade said: "Bought this rug in the orange umber colour, lovely colour and really makes the lounge warm and inviting for Christmas! Did read reviews about 'shedding', but I have had no problem at all, and it is so thick and luxurious!".
However, one shopper pointed out the rug doesn't stay put, saying: "Nice rug, wanted a heavy rug that didn't ruckle up in heavy traffic, good but not as heavy as I thought, so still having to straighten."
This could be solved by using a non-slip rug mat underneath, especially when laying the rug on a hardwood floor.
