Habitat Eve Folding Metal Garden Bistro Set

With the weather already heating up in parts of the UK (and expected to reach an average high of 25C), many people might already be thinking about upgrading their outdoor space, so it’s a good time to start shopping before the best deals and sets sell out.

As a home and garden shopping writer, I’m often on the lookout for the best deals and furniture items right now, and Habitat's Eve Two Seater Garden Bistro Set caught my eye as a handy space-saving item. The set’s compact size and foldable nature mean it would be great for smaller gardens or to upgrade a balcony space.

Available now for £65 from Habitat, though the set is not currently on discount, it still offers good value for money compared to similar bistro sets like the Havana Bistro Set from Very, which even at its discounted price costs £169.99.

Habitat’s foldable three-piece set includes a compact round table and two matching chairs in a summer-worthy orange finish that has impressed buyers, with one review simply saying: “Bought this to brighten up my patio and it really does.”

If orange feels a little too bold, the set also comes in sage green.  It’s made from steel and reviews have praised its easy-fold design, making it ideal for storing away when not in use.

The whole set combined is said to weigh just 12.8kg, which means it’s lightweight enough to easily fold up and move into storage if you don’t want to leave it set up at all times. The tabletop has a 60cm diameter, so it’s perfect for small balconies or patio areas, while still having enough room to use it for drinks or alfresco dining.

One shopper, who left a review on the Habitat website, commented on how sturdy the table and chairs felt. They said: “I wanted something bright to liven up a dull corner in the garden. They are nicely made and a great colour. They feel sturdy. We have coffee at the table most days.”

Each chair is described as having a seat height of 44.5cm and a seating area of 41cm wide and 32.5cm deep.

This bistro set has had rave reviews from customers who have given it five out of five in the review section. One review said:  “Excellent value and well made. Convenient as can be folded and tucked away for storage. Love the vibrant colour of this bistro set."

The set comes ready assembled, so you can just open up the box and start enjoying your space. It also comes with plastic corner covers on the chairs; these are placed there to stop the coating from getting scratched when it’s being shipped or when it’s folded up. Argos states on their website that these can be removed if you don’t need them or you don’t like the look of them, but just be mindful that you could end up with some scratches if you do take them off.

Although there are a few comments from customers who showed disappointment with how the chairs clip together, one saying: “Great colour, good size, easy to assemble. There are plastic caps on the folding mechanism to lock the chair in place, which are ugly and ruin the vibe. They’re not massive, but they are definitely visible, which is why I've given 4/5.”

If you want to add some extra comfort to the bistro set, Habitat has a range of cushions sized to fit onto the chairs. One set in particular that caught my eye was the Habitat x Scion Pack of 2 Kukkia Garden Chair Cushions, which cost £15. I love the floral-print that includes zesty orange, blue, and green hues.

Habitat Indu 2 Seater Metal Garden Bench

If you like the look of this bistro set but need a little more space to relax, you could pair it with this Habitat Indu Two-Seater Metal Garden Bench for £130. It comes in a matching orange colour, or if you fancy a contrasting colour, you can also buy it in yellow or black.

Shoppers are impressed with this bench, with one review saying: “I am very happy with the product—it was well wrapped and looks very smart in the garden. It is more durable than expected and seems sturdy—I am pleased it came fully put together, not flat packed.”

Much like the bistro set, the bench is made from the same steel, so it's low-maintenance and easy to wipe clean. It also arrives fully assembled, so there is no need for any tools.

Though the bench has lots of positive reviews, there are several negative comments regarding the bench arriving scratched and damaged. One shopper also added they weren't content with how sturdy the bench was. They said: "When you sit on it there is a slight flex in the metal on actual seat area. I also noticed when two people are sitting on the bench that you can feel the other person when they move about when talking (I've had wooden benches in past and never noticed that, and yet it does feel very stable on its legs)."
