Whether you’re regularly battling grass stains on your football kit or your toddler prefers wearing beetroot to eating it, finding a detergent that easily lifts stains can be a weekly challenge. Plus, you don't want to spend way too much money on something as dry as laundry.

Ariel All-in-1 Pods are the discerning shopper’s favourite, and you can currently pick up 122 capsules for £23.92 at Amazon, down from £36 - that's less than 20p a wash. If you’re in the market for fewer than that, packs of 43, 52, 70, and 108 are also discounted.

Ariel promises results from the first wash, even at temperatures as low as 20 degrees. Running washes on the coldest setting usually comes at the cost of a less-thorough clean, but that’s not the case with the Ariel All-in-1 Pods. Not only do they stand to reduce your electricity bill if you regularly wash at 30 or 40 degrees, but it helps to minimise CO2 emissions too.

With an incredible average rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 from almost 1,200 Amazon reviews, it seems Ariel is truly walking the walk with its 2-in-1 Pods. “The pods clean my clothes really well, leaving them fresh and smelling great every time. Highly recommend for anyone who wants an easy, effective, and cost-efficient laundry solution!” said one five-star review.

While they’re great at lifting stains, they’re also great at leaving your clothes’ colour intact. “My clothes feel soft, and smells nice and clean. It protect the colour and the appearance of coloured shirts well,” said another reviewer who awarded top marks. There’s no shortage of fans for this product, with another emphatic endorsement here: “These pods get rid of every stain and bad smell, they are the best pods you can buy.”

Some have had less positive experiences, with one reviewer writing: “After washing them with one pod, even though the shirts looked clean, there were still stains on the collars and I wasn't happy… So when I put a second wash on, this time I used 2 capsules and the collars were clean with the stains completely gone.”

Another had a note about the staying power of fresh smell: “Great value for the amount you get. I do find you need to use 2 pods a wash to get any kind of fragrance.”

In terms of alternatives, you could take advantage of Smol’s free trial to see if their eco-friendly pods fit the bill. After the trial, a 24 capsule pack costs £5.80. These pods at Chemiphase are well-regarded for stain removal, too, with 140 pods available for £46.54.
