Couple save £10k on stunning dream bathroom renovation - 'quite an intricate design'
HOUSE renovation is a dream for some and a nightmare for others. One of the rooms often most in need of a refit is the bathroom. One influencer saved thousands on her dream bathroom.
Chloe Watton and her partner Aaron began producing their dream bathroom earlier this year. The couple saved £10,0000 doing their bathroom themselves.
The 24-year-old influencer is updating her miner's cottage, built in 1880, as well as working a full-time job.
She and her partner were keen on saving as much money as possible while creating their dream home.
The couple has done a huge amount of work on the home themselves, documenting their progress on @thegreybuild.
Chloe said: "We went for it and Aaron DIY built our two-storey extension by hand while furloughed.”
The pair shared exactly who they managed to save £10k on their bathroom.

Chloe said: "It took months of preparation, I picked up inspiration from hotels I had been to or seen online and then Pinterest truly was and still is my best friend.
"I save images that inspire me and then collectively analyse similarities amongst them to help decide what features are a priority and then I get to hand draw my ideas on my iPad before using computer-aided design to bring it together."
She told Big Bathroom Shop: “After adding up the average costs of labour we believe we saved around £10,000.
"Our bathroom was quite an intricate design which included knocking walls down, re-positioning a window, building an additional shower nook, bespoke carpentry work, and lots of electrical work. It was a back to brick renovation so would have been very expensive in labour costs.”

The couple were far from DIY experts when taking on the project.
However, doing it yourself is the couple's major money saving tip when doing up your property.
Chloe said: "It’s the only way you can save a reasonable amount of money really as labour costs are incredibly high and sometimes tradesmen are unreliable because they’re so busy right now, catching up with work after the pandemic.”
What are the couple's main tips for saving cash? They include ripping out your own bathroom and building your own shelves.
Tips to save money DIYing your bathroom
Rip your existing bathroom out yourself
It will take some elbow grease and might end up taking more time, but it will save £100 or more off the bill.
Tiling and painting
If you’re up for the challenge, have done your research and have the time, why not tackle some tiling? This could save you thousands on your bill.
Build your own shelves
You can either purchase shelving or go wild and completely create your own floating shelves with rope and a rectangular piece of wood.
Install your own taps
I know this might sound scary but there are some good YouTube tutorials on how to do this yourself and it doesn’t look too daunting.
Another renovation couple sharting their journey on social media are Emma and Jack, behind Renovating the Broadway.
They have extended their kitchen and Emma had a warning for others who might be looking to do the same.
"We planned the extension two and a half years ago, speaking with architects," Emma explained.
"But those plans have changed over the years."
