1 - Wait for a cloudy day
Although seeing the sun blazing through your, less than clean, windows might inspire you to give them a good clean, you should wait for a cooler and greyer day.
This is because when it’s warm and sunny outside, it can cause your cleaning agent to dry too quickly, leaving watermarks on the windows.
2 - Choose your cleaner…
There are loads of specialist glass and window cleaners out there and everyone has their favourites.
Test a new cleaner out on a smaller pane of glass before using it on all your windows, to check you’re pleased with its cleaning power and finish.
3 - … or make your own!
Everyone’s favourite homemade cleaning ingredient, white vinegar, works a treat on windows too.
Make a mix of one part vinegar to three parts water and add to a spray bottle for a natural and homemade cleaner.
The vinegar smell will be diluted and won’t linger, but if you’d like a fresher smell, why not add one or two drops of your favourite essential oil?

4 - Clean the window frames first
It’s a good idea to clean the window frame before moving into the glass, otherwise, you risk dripping dirty water onto the clean glass by doing them afterwards.
5 - Dust the windows before cleaning
Give the windows a good dusting first, otherwise, you’ll just be moving dirt around on the surface of the glass.
Either use a duster or the dusting attachment on your hoover.
6 - Use a microfibre cloth
Plenty of cleaners swear by these handy cloths.
These are preferred tools because those fibres enable you to get into all the nooks and crannies, without requiring any extra elbow grease from you. Perfect!
7 - Finish off by wiping any excess cleaner
People swear by using old newspapers to finish off a window clean, so if you’ve got an old newspaper lying around why not get even more use out of it?
