The white 36C size bra worn by the starlet has partially lined white mesh cups, a faded blue ribbon bow accent between the cups, adjustable ribbon straps and a triple hook at the back.
It was made by the Hollywood Vassarette brand Debutante.
It was tipped to sell for £7,000 but sparked fervent bidding and went for more than three times the pre-sale estimate at the auction in Los Angeles, USA.
Also at auction, a then 15-year-old Monroe's high school diploma from 1941 fetched £20,000, while a personal school photo with signatures from her classmates at Ralph Waldo Emerson Junior High sold for £20,500.

A first issue of Playboy magazine that features Monroe on the cover fetched £16,000, while her vanity case made £9,500.
