MORE than two thirds of Britons do not get on with their in-laws and blame them for festive stress.
Over two thirds of Brits blame their in-laws for stress over Christmas
One in ten says that their partner’s parents are the biggest bugbear over Christmas and that they cause annoyance by buying useless presents.
One in five say their partner’s parents criticise the way they do things and 1 in 7 says their partner behaves differently in the company of their own family, according to a new survey.
Others blame them for criticising their cooking or parenting skills while others say they compete with their own relatives.
Six per cent hate their in-laws so much they actively avoid seeing or speaking to them over Christmas, research by hotel chain Jury’s Inn revealed.
The top festive feud however is the Christmas dinner.
Rows over the turkey and other trimmings are the most common for Brits.

The second most argued over subject is the television and the remote, closely followed by the in-laws.
Christmas can be a stressful time for families
Christmas presents and the central heating were also in the top five causes of Christmas arguments.
Almost half will argue every day over the holidays and 1 in 7 at least twice a day.
Now the hotel chain has devised a novel way for dealing with the mother and father-in-law – send them away.
