Coronavirus: Britons plan to be more environmentally friendly when lockdown ends
SEVENTY percent of Britons plan to become more environmentally friendly when the lockdown ends, a survey suggests.
They believe the restrictions and changes in consumption have had a positive impact on the planet. Two-fifths plan to continue with lifestyle changes so they can do more to reduce their carbon footprint. Twenty percent are considering using cars less and 27 percent plan to cut the rubbish they produce.
Others intend to eat less, avoid meat, buy fewer clothes and shop locally. Almost three quarters of the 2,000 Britons polled think working from home has helped reduce their carbon footprint. Half said they had started new hobbies.
Twenty-eight percent are considering flying less with 12 percent preferring staycations rather than jetting overseas for holidays.
Shweta Harit, of bottled water firm Evian which commissioned the research, said: "The last few weeks have shown how changes to our lifestyles can have a huge environmental knock-on effect."
