Lidl customer violently sick after spotting THIS in her microwave rice bag
A WOMAN was violently sick after discovering what appeared to be a mouse in a bag of microwave rice from Lidl. The discovery was only made after it was cooked.
Disgusting images captured what looked like a dead mouse cooked into the side of a pile of rice.
Bought from Lidl, the grey mouse was found in the pilau rice after it was put into the microwave.
Twitter user Richard Leech posted the images after he and his wife made the discovery, complaining that their house smelt of “cooked mouse”.
Many condemned the vile images online.
Hi @LidlUK I wonder if you could let me know how this mouse got into my packet of rice
He wrote: “Hi @LidlUK I wonder if you could let me know how this mouse got into my packet of rice?
“Now my house stinks of cooked mouse and my wife is uncontrollable vomiting.”
Some people joked and asked “is the mouse okay?” while others remarked they “never win anything” when they look inside their packages.
An obvious joke was that it was not pilau rice, but “pilau mice,” and the pun of “egg fried mice”.
A Lidl spokesman told Express.co.uk, however, that the substance was not a mouse and was in fact mould.
“It is never our intention for a customer to be dissatisfied in any way, and we were extremely sorry to see that this particular product did not meet the high standards that both we and our customers expect,” they explained.
“Following contact with the customer, the matter was immediately escalated to our quality assurance team who, through their initial investigation with the supplier, were able to identify the foreign substance as mould.
“Whilst very rare, this can occur as a result of an extremely small hole in the pack.
“We only ever work with reputable accredited suppliers who have extensive controls and procedures in place to verify the quality of products.
“We are, therefore, very disappointed that our expected high standards were not met on this occasion, and are in ongoing contact with the customer on the matter.”
It isn’t the first time something disgusting has been spotted by customers in their food.
One person found a piece of a lung in their meal at KFC, which the fast food joint confirmed was likely to be a that or a kidney.
Another woman found a maggot in her corn on the cob at a fast food joint.
The bug was spotted on the inside and realised what it was after it crawled out.
