Diabetes: ‘I was thirsty and didn't sleep’
DAN Sodergren had all the hallmarks of Type 2 diabetes when he was diagnosed. He said: "I knew something was wrong when I went to the doctors.

"I was always thirsty, I didn't sleep well and I was putting on weight. I had tingling in my feet."
With Halloween just around the corner in October, he was forced to tell his seven-year-old daughter Mia that he wouldn't be having any seasonal sweets.
He said: "Due to having Type 2 diabetes such sugary sweets were a "no-no" for my health." The digital marketing expert was told that due to his race he was six times more likely to develop the condition.
"If I had known that I would have lived life very differently," said the 42-year-old.
"And my daughter with me as her dad would be twice as likely, to inherit it, which was the news that scared me the most."

Diabetes can lead to many serious complications - kidney problems, loss of eyesight, liver issues, amputations - and for some, even death. Dan, of Manchester, added: "The consequences of Type 2 diabetes are much scarier than the celebrations over Halloween. "The lucky difference for me is that I got the one that might be reversible."
Dan began to research the condition and soon realised he needed to make some important lifestyle changes.
He said: "I realised that if I didn't change that bad things would happen.
"It was a lot to take in for a man who didn't really think he ate a lot of cake."
