Alan Titchmarsh guide in the garden this week: Pick kale and watch for purple broccoli
START picking kale once the foliage has had several good frosts to tenderise it and make it tastier - and watch out for early purple-sprouting broccoli.
Plant rhubarb crowns exposed to frost in large pots of garden soil or potting compost and keep them under the stairs to force them into growth early.
Use a rubber squeegee blade to remove condensation from conservatory windows and wipe windowsills if water collects. Keep plants as dry as you dare and open windows for a short time on fine days for ventilation.
