FANCY a drink with a different? Look no further.
Meaty cocktails are said to be all the rage this summer
We all remember the days of ordering a pint and a packet of pork scratchings like it was yesterday - but there's a new modern twist to this bar menu.
The new trend for Umami - a loanword from Japanese meaning a pleasant savoury taste - has hit the nation.
Essentially, these are meat-flavoured drinks - but bear with us on this one, because when mixed properly they taste delicious.
Chef Matt Tebbutt has spoken out about the trend, saying: "This summer’s hot new cocktail trend is the inclusion of ‘Umami’, a subtle yet meaty flavour profile.
"It stimulates the taste receptors and offers a unique new dimension flavour to drinks and a flair to cocktail menus."
He added: "Bars are now starting to incorporate lots of fortified wines, like Graham’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port, into cocktails as they have a distinctive umami taste that’s great at enhancing sweet and sour tastes of other ingredients."
Another new trend to hit the drinking scene is this inflatable pub - what a coup.
