Scrambled eggs are one of the most common breakfast dishes in the UK. Most people stick to the basics. A splash of milk, a knob of butter and a pinch of salt are usually enough to get them creamy and soft. Some add bacon on the side. Others keep it simple with toast.

But one home cook says there’s a small extra ingredient that can completely change the flavour, and those who have tried it say it makes the “best” scrambled eggs. The recipe was shared on Big Oven by a user called rotts4me.

It follows a fairly traditional method, with eggs beaten together with milk and salt before being cooked gently in butter or margarine.

The key difference is that half a teaspoon of Tabasco sauce is mixed into the eggs before they go into the pan.

The eggs are beaten until well combined, then poured into a large skillet with melted butter or margarine.

They are cooked over medium heat, stirring the bottom and sides as the eggs begin to firm up. Cooking continues until the eggs are thick and creamy.

They are then served immediately, ideally with cooked breakfast sausage links on the side.

One person wrote: “Best scrambled eggs ever! Thank you!”

Another added: “Will be making these again. So delicious.”

A third reviewer said: “Amazing! Such a simple recipe and who thought that adding a splash of Tabasco sauce would make such a big difference?”
