Cadbury makes major change to Fruit and Nut bars in time for Easter
Fruit & Nut bars are being changed but only those included in Easter eggs.
Cadbury’s has made a major change to Fruit & Nut bars in time for Easter.
Savvy chocolate fans this week noticed that Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut bars had undergone a recipe change, with the labels on the packaging included in the Fruit & Nut Easter eggs altered.
Posting on Reddit, a member of the r/CoeliacUK forum said: “I emailed Cadbury the other day due to confusion surrounding their Fruit and Nut Easter egg - the outer packaging mentioned no wheat or gluten, but the individual bars inside had a ‘May Contain Wheat’ so I ended up not eating them and emailing Cadbury to let them know about the discrepancy if they weren’t already aware.
“Today, received an email confirming that ‘Following improvements within our factory, we have removed the potential for our Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut bars to come into contact with wheat.

"Subsequently we have been working towards removing the wheat declaration from our packaging. At the moment the bar inclusion of some eggs still include an outdated ‘may contain wheat statement’.”
The Express then got in touch with Cadbury to confirm the change is in place for this Easter.
Cadbury told us that the Fruit & Nut bars included with all Easter eggs for 2026 ‘do not contain any traces of wheat’ and are therefore safe for people with a gluten allergy or Coeliac disease.
But this does not apply to its larger bars. Confusingly, Fruit & Nut bars of 95g or larger, including 110g, 180g, 210g and 360g are still at risk of wheat contamination and will still retain the warning on their labels.
The firm said this was because the larger bars are still produced on a different factory line to those included in Easter eggs.
A spokesperson for Cadbury said in a statement: “We can confirm that the Fruit & Nut bars included in our Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut Easter Eggs have no traces of wheat. We have removed the potential for these specific bars to come into contact with wheat following improvements in our factory. We are working towards removing the wheat declaration from our packaging, which may mean the Fruit and Nut bars included in some Easter Eggs still include an outdated ‘may contain wheat’ statement.”
