Elvis Presley's favourite sandwich with 3 weird foods makes the best hangover cure
After celebrating New Year's Eve, most of us are likely experiencing a nasty hangover. But, there's actually a sandwich loved by Elvis which can help cure you.

New Year’s Eve isn’t done right without one drink too many, and New Year’s Day is the price you pay afterwards. When the hangover hits hard, and nothing sounds good enough to eat, the last thing you expect is a solution borrowed from rock ’n’ roll royalty. Yet it turns out that Elvis Presley’s favourite sandwich might just be the perfect cure.
According to Snap Calorie: "An Elvis Sandwich is a rich and indulgent creation inspired by the favourite comfort food of the legendary musician, Elvis Presley. Originating from Southern American cuisine, this sandwich typically consists of peanut butter, banana slices, and crispy bacon layered between two slices of bread, often pan-fried or grilled to golden perfection."

Why can Elvis' sandwich help cure hangovers?
According to Lorraine Kearney, CEO of New York City Nutrition, who spoke to Delish, people suffering from a hangover should consume foods that support "liver detoxification, gut health, replenish electrolytes, and restore hydration."
Bananas are great for hangovers because they are a great source of potassium and easy to digest, so your stomach won't feel upset. "On another note, coconut water is a great option and is high in potassium (and will give you some fluids) as well as orange juice and avocados," said an expert at Delish.
Peanut butter might help if you’re feeling a little nauseous as it's easy to stomach and provides a balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fats. The carbohydrates in peanut butter can help stabilise blood sugar levels, while the protein and fat provide energy.
Carb-heavy foods like bread are generally easy to digest, which is what your body needs. Many of these foods also contain a good amount of sodium, so you’re eating something gentle on your stomach but also replenishing the electrolytes your body needs.
Lastly, bacon is beneficial for a hangover due to its high salt and protein content, which replenish lost sodium and may help alleviate hangover brain fog. Since alcohol is a diuretic, replenishing sodium is key, according to Euro News.

- Three slices of smoked streaky bacon
- Two thick slices of white bread
- Two tablespoons of salted butter
- Two tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter
- One banana
Method
To begin, cook the bacon in a small pan over low heat until it is very crispy. Then, remove it from the pan and set it aside. Butter the outside of the bread and spread peanut butter on the inside.
Place one slice of bread in the pan, butter-side down, then add the banana and bacon on the bread. Top with the second slice of bread. Cook on medium heat for two to three minutes on each side until golden. Cut the sandwich in half and then enjoy.
