Bacon will be 'crispy' and 'mess-free' with 'secret weapon' — no air fryer or oven
The cooking experts at Delish revealed their 'secret weapon' for making the best crispy bacon - and you won't need an oven or air fryer.

Getting your bacon to the perfect texture can be difficult, and there are a variety of methods which are touted as ‘the best’. While some are loyal to the oven’s grill, frying pan, or even the air fryer, the food experts at Delish have sworn by another appliance to do the job.
Delish described microwaves as the “secret weapon” for getting bacon to the ultimate level of crispiness. To test whether your rashers are ‘truly’ crisp is if your bacon stands up straight. For anyone who loves cooking bacon but doesn’t enjoy cleaning up grease, Delish claimed that microwaves help kill two birds with one stone.

All you’ll need is some kitchen roll and a microwave-safe plate.
How to make crispy bacon
Take your plate and layer it with three layers of kitchen roll. Place the bacon rashers on top of the paper, making sure the rashers aren’t overlapping each other
Then top the bacon with two more layers of kitchen roll. Microwave the bacon on high for four to six minutes “until your bacon is nice and crisp”.
Delish recommended checking the bacon half way through. They said: “These are general guidelines, but this is not a one size fits all approach. Microwave wattage is gonna vary and so will the thickness of your bacon.
“So keep that in mind and keep checking every two to three minutes.”
Keep cooking in the microwave until you have reached the desired level of crispiness. Once done, you shouldn’t have any mess to clean up as the kitchen roll will soak up all the grease.
The expert said: “Arguably, this is probably the healthiest way to make bacon.”

If you don’t have a microwave to crisp up your bacon, Mary Berry shared her method for perfecting its texture. All you’ll need is a frying pan and some oil.
She shared her technique in a recipe for a Crispy bacon rosti with fried eggs. Mary instructed to prepare an eight-inch frying pan with a lid and warm up one tablespoon of sunflower oil. The chef said the sunflower oil is the secret to getting that extra crunch. Once the oil is shimmering, lay in the bacon and let it fry on high heat “until crisp”, as Mary advised.
Depending on how you’ve prepared the bacon rashers, it’ll take different lengths of cooking time to be ready. Chopped bacon will be ready in minutes, while whole rashers might take around ten minutes, needing a flip at the halfway mark.
Place the lid on the pan to quicken the process and lock in crispiness.
