Jack’s Creek steaks have won the prestigious World Steak Challenge for two years running. They are a premium cross of two of the most renowned marbling breeds - Wagyu and Black Angus - raised in the fertile agricultural region of New South Wales, Australia.

According to the beef producer Jack’s Creek, these breeds are "nurtured in naturally unspoilt and diverse environments, the cattle have been carefully bred for exceptional taste, tenderness and juiciness to deliver a truly unique dining experience". And now, four highly marbled grain-fed Wagyu X products are available from Ocado. These are the Jack's Creek Wagyu X Sirloin, priced at £28, Jack's Creek Wagyu X Ribeye, priced at £28, Jack's Creek Wagyu X Fillet, priced at £29 and Jack's Creek Wagyu X Rump, priced at £17.

Following the news, I was able to try the steak for myself to see if the steaks really are as good as they claim.

I have tried a few steaks over the last year, one from Aldi, more recently some from Iceland, which have been decent. But, I feel like I have never really eaten real steak until now.

Cooking instructions on the back of the packaging are simple: add a little oil to a pan and cook the steak on medium to high heat for mere minutes, depending on your preference.

I like my steak medium to well done, so I cooked the steaks for six minutes, three minutes on each side, lightly pressing the steak down after turning it over.

My advice for all steak is to just leave it alone in the pan, no need to keep turning it and moving it about - but I am not a chef, just an enthusiastic home cook so you may know better.

My dramatic smoke detector did go off, twice, while I was cooking, but that is because it is very sensitive.

First up was the cheapest of the steaks, the rump. The marbling in all the steaks looked amazing.

I left the meat to rest for five minutes before sprinkling the tiniest bit of salt over the top.

I used a butter knife to cut, and it fell into the seared steak like a dream. As a fan of MasterChef, I was often confused when people would say the "meat melts in your mouth", but now I know.

This steak was soft and rich, the marbled fat allowing for pockets of delicious, succulent flavours in every bite.

My husband couldn't believe how tender it was, declaring he had had tougher burger patties than this incredible piece of meat.

We had intended to have the steak with thick chips, fresh peas and sauce, but like barbarians, we just kept eating the steak bit by bit over the kitchen counter in disbelief at how good it was.

Devouring the rump, almost hypnotised by the beautiful texture and simple but perfect flavour we went for round two with the sirloin, priced at £28.

I found myself standing over the sirloin with my knife and fork at the ready, counting down the resting time - what had I become?

This was more tender than the rump, but cooked to perfection and all that is needed is a simple sprinkle of salt to enhance the mouthwatering flavour.

Smooth and delicious, I really was eating the world's best steak and felt like I had never had a steak like it before.

The Jack’s Creek Wagyu X steaks are expensive, but they should be, shouldn't they? And I think they are worth splashing out to experience some of the world's best steaks.

Although I have the problem of never wanting to eat any other quality of steak again now that I have had the best.

You can try the steaks for yourselves at Ocado and speaking of the collaboration Kaine Allan from Jack’s Creek said: "This is the first time our Wagyu X beef will be available in retail, and we’re thrilled to be taking it nationwide, exclusively with Ocado.

"The UK has a sophisticated and increasingly diverse palate when it comes to steak, resulting in a growing demand for prestige cuts and premium cattle varieties that are known for their intricate marbling and superior eating quality."

And Tom Bryan Trading manager for meat, fish, poultry and eggs at Ocado Retail added: "We’ve seen a 120% surge in searches for 'wagyu beef' over the past year, clearly demonstrating this appetite for premium cuts. We are thrilled to be the exclusive grocery retailer of the Jack's Creek Wagyu X steak range.

"This brand represents exceptional quality and aligns perfectly with Ocado’s commitment to delivering great quality produce to our customers – we predict that the steaks will be very popular indeed."
