There's nothing like a bit of cheese.

Whether eaten with crackers, in a sandwich or melted in a fondue - it's hard to resist the savoury treat. After all, it's the ultimate oozy topping.

Chopping it, however, isn't always simple as some variations can stick and crumble quite easily when sliced. Now that could all be over thanks to a savvy slicing hack.

A kitchen guru, known as lalifehacks on TikTok, demonstrated the trick within seconds, and it works a treat. All you need is a piece of parchment paper to pull it off.

In the video, she places the paper over the area she wants to slice before she slides the knife in. This allows her to achieve perfect slices, while avoiding getting any cheese stuck to the knife.

The video has been liked hundreds of times, and people think the technique is "great". They can't get over how simple it is to get right either.

One person said: "Wow - I'm trying it." Another added: "This is literally genius." A third replied: "Like this - it's awesome." Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "Great hack."

The savvy mum shares lots of tips and tricks on social media, and they often work to help people in the kitchen. It's good news for Brits, as they often love a shortcut or two.

It should be noted there are many ways to cut cheese properly, and the best method often depends on which type of cheese you're working with.

For example, when it comes to block cheese, it's wise to lay the cheese on its largest surface before cutting it into small rectangles.

From here, you can chop the slices in half to make club cracker-sized slices too, or half them again if you want square slices. Cutting the slices diagonally through the centre is also a good trick if you want triangular-shaped pieces.

Meanwhile, if you like blue cheese, then you need a thin, narrow blade knife to cut through it to avoid damaging the veins. When it comes to quartered blue cheeses, like roquefort, simply place the cheese flat and then cut into a fan shape.

Sounds like we have a lot to learn when it comes to all the different combinations. So much cheese, so little time!
