Tew emphasised the numerous advantages of sourdough bread in promoting overall well-being. She said: "Sourdough bread is usually lower in glycaemic index (GI), which can help manage blood sugars and is better for overall health. The lower GI found in sourdough bread means the blood sugars do not have a large peak and subsequent crash.
"This can be better for overall health, mood, energy levels, and hunger too. Choosing a sourdough with seeds in will be your best option for blood sugar health. Bertinet Bakery’s half-bloomer loaves are made with regeneratively farmed wheat."
Power-packed breakfast for a vibrant start
Tew's nutrient-rich breakfast, features Bertinet Bakery's Seven Seeds & Grains sourdough, toasted to your liking and topped with power foods like avocado, spinach and cherry tomatoes.

Tew highlights that the glycaemic index of sourdough supports stable blood sugars, leading to better overall health, mood, and energy levels.
The fermentation process breaks down phytic acid, a compound present in normal bread that can hinder nutrient absorption. This reduction in phytate content enables better absorption of nutrients, making sourdough a healthier choice.
Furthermore, Tew highlights that sourdough bread contains prebiotics, acting as nourishment for gut microbes. "These help the beneficial gut microbes flourish to impact our gut microbiome," she said, emphasising the holistic benefits of the revamped classic.
As we step into 2024, the collaboration between Kimbell and Tew brings simple and effective way to eat more healthily and build these habits to last the year.
