Tesla Model Y or Tesla Pick-up truck - Are we going to see these cars revealed next month?
TESLA Model Y or a Tesla pick-up truck could be revealed at the electric car manufacturers luann event for the Semi truck next month if rumours circulating online and tweets from company CEO Elon Musk are anything to go by.
Tesla Model Y could possibly look like this
Now the dust has settled on the excitement surrounding the Tesla Model 3 release, the Californian car manufacturer has turned its attention to the Semi truck which will be unveiled next month.
Company CEO, Elon Musk, confirmed that the Tesla Semi would be unveiled on 26th October 2017, claiming that the new EV was a ‘beast’ and ‘unreal.’
Musk previously described the Tesla Semi’s range and capacity saying: “It is a heavy duty, long range, semi-truck.
“So it has the highest weight capability and with long range.
Tesla Semi will officially launch next month on 26th October
"So essentially it’s meant to alleviate the heavy duty trucking loads.
“And this is something which people do not, today, think is possible.
"They think the truck doesn’t have enough power or it doesn’t have enough range.
“And then with those with the Tesla semi we want to show that no, an electric truck actually can out-torque any diesel semi and if you had a tug-of-war competition, the Tesla semi what will tug the diesel semi uphill.”
The truck is expected to have between 200 and 300 miles of power when it goes on sale.

The most intriguing thing about the Semi’s unveiling however has nothing to do with the truck itself.
In a shareholders meeting in June, Elon Musk, said: “I really recommend showing up for the semi truck unveiling – maybe there’s a little more than what we are saying here.”
Now, this does not confirm a pick-up truck or even a new car but subsequent tweets have alluded to the possibility that one will be unveiled alongside the Semi.
What if we just made a mini version of the Tesla Semi?
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 16, 2017
One person asked Elon Musk on Twitter “Can we get a light duty pickup next?” to which Musk replied “What if we just made a mini version of the Tesla Semi?”.
This no way confirms it but it could be a tease of what is to come from Tesla.
The viability of its unveiling at the event is slightly more unlikely when you revisit tweets from Musk in April 2017 saying "Pickup truck unveil in 18 to 24 months.”
What the unveiling could be is a glimpse at a pick-up concept or even a concept Model Y.
'It drives like a Porsche': Tesla investor on new Model 3
The new Model Y will be built on the same platform as the Model 3 and is rumoured to be go on sale in 2019.
With the platform in place already to develop the Model Y that would surely be the next logical step for Tesla.
The Model Y will complete the ‘S3XY’ line up of cars, joining the Model S, Model X and Model 3.
