New Jaguar XF Sportbrake 2017 - Price, specs, interior, tech and release date
NEW Jaguar XF Sportbrake has been unveiled with upgraded interior, design and specs. Release date and price list has also been confirmed for the premium saloon.
Jaguar XF Sportbrake 2017 is not on sale in the UK with price starting from £34,910
The premium Jaguar XF Sportbrake estate is now available to order in the UK.
On first impressions you might think little has changed as the design of the car looks similar to its predecessor with its rounded front, familiar Xenon headlamps and sporting character.
It’s what is on the inside and how the car is put together, where the real difference shows.
The car has an aluminium-intensive architecture and a kerb weight from 1,660kg which should make it more agile and efficient and the Sportbrake also delivers a near perfect 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.
Inside the car is said to feel more spacious due to the new full-length 1.6sq m panoramic roof which comes with a gesture controlled blind.
Customers can specify a full-colour 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, 10-inch central touchscreen configurable 10-colour mood lighting and 20-way adjustable seats with power headrests.
The cabin has air filtration and ionisation which removes pollutants from entering the vehicle.
It’s fairly practical too with a large 565-litre luggage space expandable up to 1,700 litres when the 40:20:40 split rear folding seats are folded down.
The boot is accessible with gesture control which is located on the bottom of the tailgate and can be activated by waving a foot underneath the rear bumper.
The XF Sportbrake is the embodiment of everything our brand stands for
One of the innovative new features is the Activity Key. It is a waterproof, shockproof rubberised wristband which features an integrated transponder which allows owners to lock their conventional key fob inside the vehicle so they can enjoy outdoor actives without worrying about their car key.
Activity Key disables any keys left inside the car and the wristband has no battery so it can never run flat. It uses RF frequencies to automatically lock and unlock the vehicle when it's held close to the Jaguar lettering on the tailgate.
Four state-of-the-art four-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel engines deliver clean, efficient power from 163PS to 250PS, with CO2 emissions as low as 118g/km.
The Sportbrake has six engine variants on offer
The range starts with a rear-wheel-drive 163PS Ingenium diesel with variable geometry turbocharging and delivers CO2 emissions of just 118g/km with fuel efficiency of 62.8mpg (4.5 l/100km) on the Combined cycle.
At the other end of the performance spectrum, customers can choose the 300PS Turbocharged V6 diesel engine which, when paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, achieves a sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds (0-60mph in 6.1 seconds).
“The XF Sportbrake is the embodiment of everything our brand stands for, bringing Jaguar design and dynamics to create vehicles that excite the senses and support active lifestyles,” said Steven de Ploey, Global Marketing Strategy and Planning Director, Jaguar.
He added: “Its dynamic performance, desirable styling and cutting-edge technologies will introduce a new generation of drivers to Jaguar’s drive, passion and comfort.”
The boot space and load bay can be expanded up to 1,700-litres
The powertrain range will include:
163PS 2.0-litre diesel manual and automatic; RWD
180PS 2.0-litre diesel automatic; RWD and AWD
240PS 2.0-litre diesel automatic; AWD
300PS 3.0-litre V6 diesel automatic; RWD Petrol
250PS 2.0-litre petrol automatic; RWD
A number of the XF Sportbrake variants come with AWD as an option which offers superior handling and grip.
The Sportbrake is manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover’s Castle Bromwich Plant
Jaguar’s optional Configurable Dynamics system enables drivers to fine-tune settings for the steering, transmission and throttle and with Adaptive Dynamics dampers fitted, customers can also tune the suspension settings for a more personalised driving experience.
There is a range of driver assistance systems that come with the new estate including Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Blind Spot Monitor and Reverse Traffic Detection and Park Assist.
Nick Collins, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar X said: “The award winning Jaguar XF is already established as the most dynamic saloon car in the business segment.
“With the addition of the Sportbrake, we’re adding space and usability to the existing fun-to-drive package.
“And with super clean Ingenium engines mated with all-weather traction, we have developed a car to appeal to customers who want an efficient premium estate with low ownership costs.”
