A 1962 JAGUAR E-Type which has been hidden in a barn for 30 years is set to sell for £60,000 at auction.
An iconic Jaguar E-Type has been hidden in a barn for 30 years is to be auctioned for £60,000
The classic sports car has been driven just 63,000 miles in its 55-year life and is now seeking a new owner for the first time in 41 years.
When it left the factory, the Jaguar could accelerate from 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 150mph.
But after being hidden away it now requires a full restoration and will be sold by H&H Auctions alongside five other E-Types at its RAC Woodcote Park sale in Surrey on June 6.
Jaguar's E-Type is a car that gets under people's skin.
They have given the car a guide price of £50,000 to £60,000.
The E-Type was originally a sold by Westerm Motors of Bristol to a Mr A.E Powell in 1962. He fitted the Jag with a personalised plate and held onto it for 14 years.
Mr Powell then sold it to the current owner, a Bristol University student who spent the summer working on the M5 motorway to help fund his purchase.
The car has a guide price of £50,000 to £60,000
He took it off the road in the mid-1980s and it has been stored in North Devon ever since, last being fired up in 2001.
Damian Jones, from H&H Classics, said: "Jaguar's E-Type is a car that gets under people's skin.
"The 1962 3.8 litre Coupe which we are offering for sale on June 6th at Woodcote Park has been a West Country car from new.
The vintage car will need a full restoration
"The vendor acquired it after a summer's hard graft on the M5 motorway in 1976 and instantly became the envy of his friends at Bristol University.
"It appears to be highly original and will doubtless be an enormously rewarding restoration project for someone.
"Although, the seller is understandably sad to see it go after 41 years of dream fulfilment."
