Bond girl Honor Blackman's pensioners battle
FORMER Bond girl Honor Blackman has joined the victims of the Equitable Life scandal and promised to do for pensioners what Joanna Lumley did for the Gurkhas.
The actress, who played Pussy Galore in the James Bond epic Goldfinger and starred in TV’s The Avengers, is leading a campaign that aims to shame the Government over the delayed £4billion payouts for one million long-suffering policyholders.
She protested outside Parliament earlier this month to highlight the fact that 15 of them die every day waiting for justice.
Now she says that “it’s a reflection of the sorry situation that I may have to do what Joanna Lumley did – shame the Pensions Minister into getting something done.
"If I thought such a coup de theatre would work, I would do it happily”.
Miss Blackman, 84, is angry over the Government’s failure to oversee and regulate the pension provider when it faced financial trouble in 2000.
She holds Gordon Brown directly responsible for losing half her Equitable pension.
