Today, sources say. They disclosed that the TopShop, Miss Selfridge and TopMan owner will not attend the show because of the ongoing controversy around the collapse of BHS.
Late yesterday, Green confirmed to the Sunday Express that he was still “undecided” about whether he will attend the TopShop Unique show at Old Spitalfields Market.
Green owned BHS for 15 years before selling it to three-times bankrupt Dominic Chappell in March 2015. Just over a year later, BHS collapsed into administration and shut its doors for good last month.
Critics claim that Green starved BHS of investment and that he failed to leave the firm’s pension scheme on a secure footing, prior to the sale of the department store chain to Chappell.
The fashion magnate denies the claims.
London Fashion Week kicked off on Friday and according to research from industry platform FashionUnited, it will generate £269million for the British economy.
