£26bn spent on cards abroad
HOLIDAYMAKERS from the UK collectively spent £26.4billion using their cards overseas in 2014 – making almost 14 transactions every second, figures show.

In total, UK-issued debit, credit and charge cards were used to make 440 million purchases abroad last year, the UK Cards Association said.

It said consumers benefit from using their cards overseas through having extra legal protections on purchases.
Richard Koch, head of policy at the UK Cards Association, said: “With consumers spending £72million every day on their cards overseas, it’s clear holidaymakers are making sure they pack their cards when they go abroad.”
