The Lego Movie builds magical profits for Merlin Entertainments
MOVIE magic rubbed off on Merlin Entertainments as the success of The Lego Movie boosted takings at its Legoland parks.
LegoLand is owned by the FTSE 250 company
The FTSE 250 company lifted annual pre-tax profit by 34.6 per cent to £249million as nearly 63million people visited its attractions.
It also owns Madame Tussauds and theme parks Thorpe Park and Alton Towers.
Chief Nick Varney said the “stand out” performer was Legoland, where like-for-like revenue jumped 13 per cent, while its UK parks had also been boosted by unseasonably warm weather.
He added: “2015 is expected to be another year of growth.”
