GKN shifts up gears in Mexico
CAR parts group GKN is boosting production in Mexico by more than a quarter and creating 250 jobs to cash in on business there and the US.
GKN Driveline is expanding its Villagran factory to lift annual production of driveshaft parts by 27 per cent to 9.5 million in 2015. It is also adding a product development centre.
It will allow GKN, which also has two other Mexican plants, to handle new orders and expected business. It has invested £146million in Mexico since 2005.
Chief executive Nigel Stein said: “Mexico is a significant growth market.”
