Pinewood's new Bond with US partner
FILM studio group Pinewood Shepperton, which has been host to 21 Bond movies, is set to rival Hollywood with a new US studio.
Pinewood, which has made 007 blockbusters including the Man With The Golden Gun and Skyfall,is setting up Pinewood Atlanta as a joint venture with River’s Rock, an independently managed trust of the Cathy food retail dynasty.
The venture, 40 per cent owned by Pinewood, hopes to cash in on tax breaks in the state of Georgia to attract US fi lm and TV makers.
It will initially develop 288 acres of land south of Atlanta, creating studios which will turn out film, TV, music and video games.
Chief executive Ivan Dunleavy said: “Georgia has excellent fiscal incentives and a great crew base.
With River’s Rock we have a well resourced partner committed to building a first class studio.”
The venture follows a deal this month to provide fi lm production services in China. Pinewood said the new financial year had begun well with strong demand.
