The 76-year-old, who has been a vocal critic of the President-elect, did not mince her words when a fan asked on Twitter whether the legendary singer, who died in 1998, would have appeared if asked.
She had previously written: “For me it's more about the people who will pull the strings than the puppet. [Trump] has surrounded himself with horrible people.”
A follower replied: “what wld ur pop have told trump if he was asked to perform [sic].”
“He would never support a bigot,” she replied simply.

Trump has seemingly struggled to book A-list singers for the event later this month, although he has also insisted that he doesn’t particularly want anybody too famous there anyway.
British singer Rebecca Ferguson confirmed earlier this week that she has been approached, but said she would only accept if she could sing the song Strange Fruit; a hard-hitting Billie Holiday track about severe racism in the US.
“I’ve been asked and this is my answer,” she wrote in a statement. “If you allow me to sing Strange Fruit, a song that has huge historical importance, a song that was blacklisted in the United States for being too controversial.
“A song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States. A song that is a reminder of how love is the only thing that will conquer all the hatred in this world, then I will graciously accept your invitation and see you in Washington.”
