Nintendo Switch stock news: You could be waiting a LONG TIME for new console
NINTENDO Switch stock is selling out in a matter of hours, as retailers like GameStop struggle to keep up with demand.
GameStop suggests that Nintendo Switch fans might be waiting a long time for stock
Nintendo Switch fans could be waiting a long time for new stock if these new GameStop comments are anything to go by.
GameStop employee Eric Bright said that the Nintendo Switch was exceeding expectations, and that allocations were selling out in hours.
Speaking to Forbes, he said: "It's exceeding our expectations. We knew it would be a high-demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours...the demand is so high that consumers have to react quickly to be able to get their hands on them."
GameStop believes this will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future, which will make it difficult to get hold of stock.
"Right now we're not seeing sales going down at all, and I would expect that to continue for quite some time," he added.
It's been a similar situation in the UK, where the Nintendo Switch - particularly the grey model - has been hard to find.
It's not surprising when you consider that the Switch surpassed Nintendo's expectations, shipping a staggering 2.74 million units during its opening month on sale.
Nintendo had only predicted sales of 2 million for the first month of release, which explains why it's been so tricky to find stock.
With the Switch off to a strong start, Nintendo believes it will sell another 10 million units in the next year.
Equally as impressive is that Nintendo Switch games sales are up to 5.46 million.

This means that nearly two games have been sold for every Switch console.
Nintendo Switch mini game collection 1-2 Switch made up a big number of the sales, shipping almost 1 million in its opening month.
Super Bomberman R has also proven popular, shifting 500,000 copies since launch.
But it's Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild that has proven most popular, notching up sales of 2.76 million.
Bizarrely, this means it's sold more copies than there are Switch consoles.
