NEW Overwatch event coming to PS4 and Xbox One for a LIMITED time
OVERWATCH could be getting a brand new Christmas game mode, as well as a campaign and more.
Overwatch developer Blizzard launching Festive event and new game mode
Overwatch fans are in for a treat this Christmas, as Blizzard gears up for a festive event on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Fans have discovered sound files that point towards a festive event and new arena.
According to Reddit user Venxa, Blizzard will introduce new interactions between characters, as well as a Christmas jingle and new announcer lines.
New lines include "challenger", "now entering the arena" and "Gladiator".
It's possible that Blizzard is planning to hold a Christmas event, similar to the one they held for Halloween.
In other Overwatch news, Blizzard is said to be recruiting for a new first-person project.
According to Eurogamer, the unannounced project could be a co-op Overwatch campaign.
The job advert mentions a "robust first-person engine for an unannounced project", before saying that "previous experience working on first-person or other action-oriented games" would be a plus.
Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan previously hinted at a campaign, telling fans that Blizzard had a passion for storytelling.
"Everybody knows Blizzard has a passion for storytelling and we also love doing single-player and co-operative campaigns," he said at the time.
"You see it in a lot of our other games: StarCraft, Diablo, World of Warcraft. There's a lot of knowledge and passion in the studio around doing single-player content - or, more likely for Overwatch ... something more co-operative.
"But we're nowhere near having anything like that. It's a far thought from us right now."
Overwatch Update - Introducing Sombra
In the meantime, Overwatch developer Blizzard has moved on to a new project now that Sombra has been released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Blizzard has just made another batch of changes to heroes like Symmetra and Zarya, which are available to try as part of a PTR update on PC.
After announcing plans to radically change Symmetra a few months ago, Blizzard has finally made the necessary tweaks and is testing them on PC.
Symmetra becomes the first hero to have a choice of Ultimates, with players now able to toggle between her teleporter and a brand new Shield Generator, which allows her to place a device that shields allies within a set radius.
There's also a Photon Barrier, which replaces her Photon Shield. It allows Symmetra to generate a large energy barrier that blocks enemy fire as it travels forward.
