Xbox One gamers could see a brand new console released by Microsoft within the next few months.
The Windows 10 makers are busy working on Project Scarlett, their next-gen Xbox which was teased at E3 last year.
It’s expected that more details on the next-gen Xbox consoles will be announced at E3 2019 in June.
But ahead of that the Redmond-based tech giant could be about to release a brand new addition to the Xbox family of consoles.
According to a post by Windows Central, a new Xbox console is set to launch in May.
Sources have told them that the rumoured discless Xbox One S - which is codenamed Maverick - will launch in Q1 2019.
It’s believed that pre-orders for the digital-only Xbox One console will open in April with the device getting released in early May.
Microsoft are allegedly targeting a near-global simultaneous launch for the new Xbox console
Games for this console will be delivered via digital purchases and the Xbox Game Pass.
While the incoming streaming service Project xCloud could also be supported on the ‘Xbox One S All-Digital Edition’.
Forgoing the parts needed for the disc tray should make the digital-only Xbox the cheapest model around.
It was previously rumoured that the model could be up to $100 cheaper than the Xbox One S.
It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will offer a similar discless system with their Xbox Scarlett family of consoles.
