Square Enix news includes updates on the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3 and the recently released Octopath Traveler.
But to start with the Japanese gaming giant recently released their financial results for the first quarter of their current fiscal year.
And the financial report revealed that Square Enix has seen falling sales and operating income during that period, Wccfech reported.
In the three months leading up to June 30, sales saw a year-on-year fall of 20.2 per cent.
Operating income for Square Enix also took a 66.9 per cent year-on-year fall.
However, despite these findings there is reason to believe Square Enix’s next financial results could see a big improvement.
The recently revealed financial results don’t cover the period that Octopath Traveler was released.
And that JRPG has been a huge hit for Square Enix so far, with physical copies selling out around the world.
In the UK physical copies of Octopath Traveler are like gold dust, while in Japan it has sold like hot cakes.
The initial shipment of stock in the Land of the Rising Sun sold fast, while the restock sold out in a matter of hours.
These huge sales should help bolster Square Enix’s sales during the second quarter of their financial year.
On the topic of Octopath Traveler, it might have emerged what the team behind the smash hit Nintendo Switch game are working on next.
The official Japanese Twitter account for the Bravely Default series has changed it’s name to Bravely ◯◯◯◯◯, Nibellion revealed.
This is possibly teasing an unannounced subtitle for the next game in the series, or a possibly remaster or re-release of the 3DS games.
The Twitter account has also changed its banner image to a picture which appears to show the series character Airy.
The account also tweeted: “We've already announced it, but... Octopath Traveler, 1 million units shipped!
“Thank you! Now, now... Please look forward to the next Square-Enix 11 BD games m_ _m!”
The Square Enix Business Division 11, who make the Bravely Default games, are also the studio behind Octopath Traveler.
Does this signal that a new Bravely title is in the works for Switch?
This chimes in with recent comments Square Enix made during an earnings conference last week.
Wall Street journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki in posts on Twitter revealed Square’s response to the impressive Octopath Traveler sales.
And Square said that fans can expect more games similar to Octopath Traveler in the future.
The news comes as gamers continued to put the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 among their top most wanted games.
