WARNING SPOILER AHEAD FOR JURASSIC WORLD FALLEN KINGDOM
Back in 1993 Neill starred in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, before returning for the third outing in 2001.
Now with the Jurassic World trilogy well underway, fans have been wondering if his Alan Grant will turn up.
After all the reboot series is set in the same universe and Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm is in the latest outing, Fallen Kingdom.
The report said: “This person who was working on the soundstage, where some of this film was shot, said that Sam Neill rolled up in a blacked out BMW at the time that [Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom] was filming.
“Now, I'd say, if this is true, which I'm inclined to believe, it's only going to be a minor cameo.”
So did Neill return as Alan?
Sadly for fans he did not, unless it was some kind of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.
Of course it’s possible something was shot that ended up on the cutting room floor.
Even Goldblum’s scene, shown in part at the beginning and end of the film was only around one minute of screen time.
Teaser reveals practical effects in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Nevertheless with Jurassic World 3 due in 2021, there’s still plenty of room for his return.
Just imagine a reunion with Alan, Ian and Laura Dern as Ellie. Perhaps Owen and Claire will need their assistance.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is in UK cinemas now.
